Security without ID Card and Key

Trade-fair highlight at the Interflex booth: in Essen, Stuttgart security specialist shows the structure of the pioneering biometric system that controls access and time recording at the Swiss banking house Pictet. Internationally unique solution through 3-D face and iris recognition.

Stuttgart/Essen, October 7, 2008. The trade-fair presentation of the Interflex Datensysteme GmbH & Co. KG at SECURITY 2008 is very much under the influence of biometrics: from October 7 to 10, the companies of the Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies line of business will inform trade fair visitors about the many possibilities now offered to companies and administrative agencies on the basis of security software by Interflex – through the integration of various biometric testing methods and incorporation of additional technologies of access control such as isolation, CCTV, and feature recognition. As a special highlight, Booth 313 in Hall 3 will show trade fair visitors a demo model that illustrates the biometrics system of the Geneva private bank Pictet Banquiers & Cie. in a realistic way: an innovation installation that functions completely without ID cards and keys, ensuring the highest degree of security in the combination of 3-D face and iris-identification with optimal recognition rates.

The solution IF-6020-Security by Interflex has proved to be the key for the efficient integration of various access-control components into a comprehensive security system for the Swiss financial services provider. The 3-D face-recognition terminals by bioscrypt/L-1 Identity Solutions and equipment by the byometric systems AG for iris recognition are employed so that only authorized individuals can use the entrances to the Pictet headquarters and move from one security area to the next within the bank building. These systems are responsible solely for identification, however. In the meantime, Interflex software assumes the analysis of rights and the previously defined assignment of rights. In the process, it controls more than just access through biometrics: the time entries of the employees are recorded without an ID card and key – an installation that is unique throughout the world and has a model character for the entire sector.

The efficiency and security standards of the Pictet solution also meet the very highest demands. Speedgates with dynamic 3-D face recognition at the entrances ensure there are no delays in entry during peak periods in the morning as the majority of the 2,600 employees enter the building – an extremely important criterion. The system is capable of generating multiple face scans and directly comparing them with the respective recorded reference data and images. This process is always completed in less than one second, yet still guarantees an extremely precise identification that cannot be misused.

“With the access-control system in the new bank building by Pictet, we have refuted all of the ‘experts’ who were convinced that biometrics is not yet advanced enough and that the required security standards cannot be achieved without an ID-card medium,” emphasized Marcel Keller, regional manager at Interflex in Switzerland. “Our software IF-6020-Security in Geneva acts like an intelligent control center of an extremely efficient security system, with which the unmistakable characteristics of each individual human being can become an ID card with 100 percent security against forgery.”
